About Our Company

Born on Vancouver Island and raised in the Okanagan, Kyle has experienced all of British Columbia. He completed his 1st year of his Mechanical Engineering degree in Kamloops before returning to the Victoria to finish his Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma at Camosun College. Further to his Mechanical Engineering education, Kyle completed several Weyerhaeuser Truss Joist courses to be able to design and specify engineered beams and i-joists. His education spans even further to MiTek courses to be able to design engineered wood trusses. Naturally, Kyle became a truss designer at Victoria Truss and was their only Engineered Wood Designer which made him a valuable asset to the business.

In 2006, Kyle started Java Designs. Beginning his career from his garage he swiftly and efficiently created a business which flourished into a team of talented people working full time. With the vision of providing exceptional client service through high level creativity and design, Kyle’s dedication to his business, clients and industry consultants is key to his success and the tremendous growth of Java Designs. With many Award Winning designs under his belt, hundreds of wonderful client relationships established over nearly two decades of hard work, and a talented team of designers at Java, Kyle feels accomplished in his achievements.

When Kyle is not working he can be found with his wife, Tara, and their blended family. From skiing to volleyball, horses to all things “family”, their lives are full of exciting events and milestones. Kyle's personal interests include cooking, fishing and travelling both locally and internationally.

Meet Natalie, a third generation Victorian with a passion for all things design related. With almost 20 years of design experience and education she holds the title of Senior Designer and Office Manager at Java. From space planning and commercial interiors to healthcare and residential design her trajectory has always been creating functional and interesting spaces through education, creativity and a keen eye for detail.

When Natalie is not immersed in Residential Building Design she is spending time with her family and friends. She wouldn’t be an islander without a deep love for outdoor recreation including paddleboarding, hiking, camping and all kinds of outdoor gatherings. Her favorite pastime is travelling with her partner, son and their goldendoodle Forest. Along with searching for new camping locations with the best fishing spots or organizing a family BBQ with yard games.

Even during her downtime, Natalie can often be seen researching and studying different forms of architecture and the impacts of design. Through her commitment to continued learning and growth Natalie strives for an unparalleled design experience with our clients. Her professionalism and industry experience combined with her dedication to convey your perfect design, leaves our clients feeling confident in their project.
